We stayed at Sparhof during our visit to the WW1 museums and memorials in the Ypres area. The hotel's location on a quiet country lane was ideal for exploring. We loved our spacious room with a comfortable bed, wooden bath, and walk-in shower. The private outside terrace was a great bonus. The breakfast was excellent, with a wide range of options, including eggs cooked to order. The owners and staff were incredibly friendly and helpful.

We had a lovely and romantic escape at this guest house, located in a peaceful and secluded area of East Flanders. The welcoming staff was incredibly helpful and provided us with all the necessary information to enjoy our stay to the fullest. We particularly enjoyed the beautiful outdoor terrace, perfect for sipping on drinks and taking in the stunning views of the surrounding countryside. The breakfast was also exceptional, with a good selection of tasty and fresh food.

One minor downside is that there were no tea or coffee-making facilities in the room. the steep and narrow stairs leading to the first floor may pose a challenge for elderly guests.

Although there were a few minor inconveniences like the lack of tea making facilities in the room and the quirky sloping beams that caused a few head bumps for my husband, these were easily outweighed by the warm hospitality and overall exceptional experience. If you're looking for a tranquil retreat with great food and friendly hosts, I highly recommend this hidden gem. I cannot wait to return to Sparhof for another memorable stay.
